What Does Emergency Response Information Look Like?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Emergency response information<\/span><\/a> must include the following:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • The basic description and technical name of the hazardous material\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Immediate hazards to health\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Risks of fire or explosion\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Immediate precautions that must be taken in the event of an accident or incident\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Immediate methods for handling fires\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Initial methods for handling spills or leaks in the absence of fire\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Preliminary first aid measures\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Further, emergency response information must be provided in the following manner:<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Printed legibly in English\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Available for use away from the package containing the hazardous material\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Presented in one of the following ways:\u00a0<\/span>\n
        \n
      • On a hazmat shipping paper\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      • In a document, other than a shipping paper, that includes both the basic description and technical name of the hazardous material and all of the emergency response information required by Subpart G of Part 172.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Related to the information on a shipping paper, a written notification to pilot-in-command, or a dangerous cargo manifest, in a separate document (e.g., an emergency response guidance document) that cross-references the description of the hazardous material on the shipping paper with the emergency response information contained in the document.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
